Evan Marshall - duo style solo mandolin

  • Kensington Concert Series - Payne's House (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The Kensington Concert Series, in conjunction with the San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp, present Evan  J.  Marshall an  internationally  renowned  mandolin  virtuoso,  who  is  widely  regarded  as  the  worlds  premier  solo  performer  on  mandolinin Duo-Style. By  himself,  he  sounds  like  several  of  the  worlds  finest  mandolinists  performing  together. His  stylistic  signature  is  Classical,  with  strong  influences  from  the  Italian and  American  Folk  traditions.  Country  guitar  legend  Chet  Atkins  called  Evan  A  true  virtuoso,  one  of  the  few  great  musicians  of  our  time.

Inspired by Atkins  and  violinist  Jascha  Heifetz, Evan has  created  a  uniquely  recognizable approach  to  solo  mandolin  performance  that  combines  bass  lines,  chords,  rhapsodic runs  and  tremolo  melodies.  He  started  Classical  violin  studies  at  age  seven,  and  added  the  mandolin  at age 14.

ONLINE TICKETS: $20.00 - https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3461181

Barron Ryan "Classical Meets Cool" (solo piano)

This will be a great opportunity to hear this outstanding pianist. This will be a Kensington Concert Series presentation, but held had the lovely Kristen Greene Recital Hall at Greene Music in Miramar. Tickets, $30. Click here for tickets.

Barron Ryan's love for music has always been divided. He grew up in a house filled with the sounds of everything ranging from Chopin to Glenn Miller to Isaac Hayes. So when it comes to his own performing, he's not content drawing on just one of those influences; he combines them all into an adventure thats vintage yet fresh, historical yet hip, classic yet cool. Barron engages the audience in a musical dialogue as he answers questions and gives insight about the music he plays. Breaking down the invisible wall between performer and audience, he allows the listener to become a participant. Whether youre looking for music with more heritage or more edge, Barron Ryan will give you a performance thats timeless.
